Job Type        3 Month fixed-term contract

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our Industry Growth team. This role is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate looking to start a career in developing policy and delivering key projects that will boost the productivity potential of the UK food and drink manufacturing industry and its ability to invest in technology and skills.

As an Industry Growth Intern, you will gain experience monitoring key policy developments; drafting concise and informative briefings for FDF colleagues and members; and supporting the administration of the team’s meetings, events, and wider activities.

This is an initial 3-month contract with the possibility of extension to up to 12 months, subject to business needs.

Key responsibilities for the Industry Growth Intern

  • Monitor relevant policy developments relating to growth, investment and workforce including the government’s Industrial Strategy.
  • Ensure that members and colleagues are kept informed by producing concise and informative briefings.
  • Develop toolkits and guidance to support members, particularly SMEs, on key areas of policy development including the Employment Rights Bill reforms, access to innovation support and changes to the Growth and Skills Levy.
  • Help the team to build and maintain productive relationship with key stakeholders across government and industry.
  • Provide administrational support for FDF’s internal and external meetings.
  • Work with the Senior Industry Growth Policy Executive to ensure smooth delivery of team outputs for events.
  • Work with the Team Administrator to ensure that the database is maintained appropriately, ensure the team’s relevant webpages are updated and relevant to member’s needs.

Requirements

  • Graduate in a relevant degree discipline.
  • No previous policy experience is required.
  • Able to demonstrate an interest in UK politics and policy issues.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent administrative and organisational skills
  • Experience of Word, PowerPoint and Excel
