Event code of conduct

07 March 2025

The Food and Drink Federation (FDF) is committed to providing an inclusive, safe, and respectful environment for all attendees at our events. This Code of Conduct outlines our expectations for behaviour, as well as the consequences of unacceptable behaviour.

Overview

The Food and Drink Federation (FDF) is committed to providing an inclusive, safe, and respectful environment for all attendees at our events. This Code of Conduct outlines our expectations for behaviour, as well as the consequences of unacceptable behaviour.

Scope

This Code of Conduct applies to everyone present at FDF events, including but not limited to sponsors, speakers, attendees, media and contractors. It also extends to interactions before, during, and after the event.

Expected behaviour

We expect all individuals to act professionally, respectfully, and responsibly.
Everyone has a duty to take reasonable care of their own safety and that of others. We expect everyone present to:

  • treat all other participants with respect and dignity
  • be considerate, respectful, and collaborative
  • follow all applicable rules of the event and venue
  • co-operate with event staff
  • be mindful of the surroundings and other participants
  • take care not to cause any physical damage to any part of the venue
  • alert conference organisers if you notice a dangerous situation or someone in distress.

Unacceptable behaviour

  • We do not tolerate any form of discrimination or harassment. Unacceptable behaviours include, but are not limited to:
  • offensive comments related to age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex, or sexual orientation
  • unwanted physical contact, violence, sexual attention, innuendo, or intimidation.
  • disruptive behaviour that affects the event, such as heckling, interrupting speakers, or unauthorized protests
  • possession or consumption of illegal substances
  • excessive or irresponsible alcohol consumption that risks safety or contributes to behaviour that breaches this Code
  • failure to comply with venue regulations or health and safety requirements, including smoking in non-designated areas.

Consequences of breaching the Code of Conduct

Anyone asked to stop unacceptable behaviour is expected to comply immediately. Responses to breaches may include:

  • addressing the incident directly with the individual(s) and/or their employer
  • informing venue security
  • immediate expulsion from the event without warning or refund
  • reporting the behaviour to law enforcement
  • banning the individual from future FDF events
  • all determinations of whether behaviour breaches the Code of Conduct are at the sole discretion of the FDF. Decisions made by FDF representatives on-site or post-event are final.

Reporting unacceptable behaviour

Anyone who experiences or witnesses harassment, discrimination, or any behaviour that makes them feel unsafe or uncomfortable is encouraged to report it to an FDF representative on-site. FDF teams are trained on the Code of Conduct and how to respond appropriately.

To report an incident after the event, please email our Commercial Manager, Felipe Fernandes with as much detail as possible. Reports will be investigated confidentially and appropriately addressed.

Support for affected individuals

If an individual is subjected to unwanted or unacceptable behaviour at an FDF event, we will provide appropriate support, which may include:

  • offering a safe and confidential space
  • arranging medical or mental health assistance
  • providing information on available support services
  • following up with the individual through an assigned FDF representative.
