Mars Wrigley is continuing to invest in new product development and reformulation. Much of their work is driven by strong demand among UK consumers to have more diverse options within the product ranges they already know and love.

Recent innovations have included ‘More Protein’ ranges, containing 30-40% less sugar, and 100kcal portion-controlled formats for Mars, Snickers and Twix bars. Mars Wrigley continues to grow its range of sugar-free gum, moving into fruitier flavours such as Extra Sugarfree Watermelon. Studies have shown chewing gum can reduce dental cavities and enhance cognitive performance.

Its Health and Wellness brands are also expanding.

KIND Snacks’ focus is on getting more nuts and fibre into peoples’ diets. Nuts are a nutrient dense food, that people in the UK are not consuming enough of today.

KIND’s Caramel Chocolate Peanut bar, launched this year, joins a leading non-HFSS range that also includes Maple Pecan Almond, Fruit & Nut, Caramelised Biscuit Nut, and Chocolate Chip Cashew. These bars are made with over 80 per cent nuts/fruit & nuts, delivering a recommend portion of nuts (20-30g) in every bar.

trüfrü, containing fewer than 92 calories per serving, has launched in the UK this year to much success. Available in three flavours, trüfrü is made using 100 per cent real fruit – picked ripe, coated in chocolate and hyper-chilled to lock in flavour and nutrition.
