Allergens Steering Group (ASG)

The Allergens Steering Group (ASG) covers allergen labelling and allergen management issues that affects the interests of UK food and drink manufacturers. This includes legislative developments in the UK (and at EU and international level) on allergen risk communications in terms of precautionary allergen labelling (i.e. 'may contain') and allergen reference doses for action levels.

This committee is open to all FDF member companies to subscribe to and/or join.  

Committee Purpose

  • Monitor regulatory developments and disseminate updates on allergen labelling and management.
  • Work with the Food Standards Agency, other trade associations and allergy charities, to influence food allergy and intolerance policy and promote risk-based allergen management.
  • Develop and maintain industry allergen guidance, in collaboration with relevant stakeholders, to assist the consistent application of legislation thus enabling safe food for allergic consumers.
