Residues and Contaminants Committee (RAC)

The Residues and Contaminants (RAC) Committee covers issues relating to the safety of chemical residues and contaminants which affect, or have the potential to affect, the interests of UK food and drink manufacturers and their supply chains. It reviews and influences regulatory and scientific developments within the UK (and at EU and Codex level) in relation to process contaminants, organic and inorganic contaminants, biotoxins and pesticides.

Committee purpose

  • Reviews regulatory and technical developments relating to chemical residues and contaminants in food.
  • Works with UK authorities and relevant stakeholders, including FoodDrinkEurope, to influence developments in national, EU and international policy on residues and contaminants in food, including mitigation and risk management measures.
  • Supports members in anticipating and implementing legislation on chemical residues and contaminants.
