FDF Chief Executive Karen Betts has welcomed Steve Barclay and Victoria Atkins to their roles, who have been appointed Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs and Secretary of State for Health and Social Care respectively.
Commenting on the appointments, FDF Chief Executive Karen Betts said:
“Our warmest congratulations to Steve Barclay on being appointed as the new Secretary of State for the Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs. This is one of the most varied, interesting and enjoyable ministerial portfolios and there is so much positive work that the new Secretary of State can do in partnership with our sector, as we continue to work hard to provide a fantastic range of nutritious, delicious and safe products for everyone across the country to enjoy, whatever their budget.
“I would also like to congratulate Victoria Atkins on being appointed as the new Secretary of State for the Department of Health and Social Care. We look forward to working with her to discuss how our industry can work in partnership with government to help tackle obesity. We are working hard to play a positive role, but we know more needs to be done, through collaboration and partnership to improve our nation’s diet.”
