Ambition: Halve food waste by 2030, contributing to UNSDG12.3 and the Courtauld 2030 commitment.
Globally, around one third of all food produced is wasted, accounting for a staggering 8-10% of total global GHG emissions. This wasted food is driving additional nature loss, putting unnecessary pressure on land, nature and water resources as well as having economic and social impacts.
Strong progress has been made by food and drink manufacturers with a 34% reduction since 2007, putting the sector on track to reach a 50% per capita reduction by 2030. However, more can be done and there has been limited progress elsewhere in the food supply chain where manufacturers can significantly influence.
