The world has a problem with waste, not enough is recycled and too much is ending up where it shouldn’t be. As a company who produces drinks served in packaging, Coca-Cola doesn’t want to see any of it end up where it shouldn’t, and has a responsibility to help solve this challenge.

Topics

In 2017, Coca-Cola came out with a new sustainable packaging strategy, followed by a new global ambition for a ‘World Without Waste’. This included an industry-first to collect and recycle the equivalent of every bottle or can they sell by 2030, going even faster in Western Europe to achieve this by 2025.

In 2019, Coca-Cola have accelerated work to ensure their packaging is as sustainable as possible, with four new key initiatives as part of that: announcing a move to 100% recycled plastic in their Smartwater bottles, turning Sprite from Green to Clear, removing plastic shrink wrap from can multipacks, and unveiling the world’s first food and drink packaging made from recycled marine litter.
