Dr Stephen Mackenzie, Sector specialist for GHGs in food systems, WRAP

Dr Stephen Mackenzie is a sector specialist for GHGs in food systems with WRAP. In this role he helps food businesses to follow key principles of GHG modelling through relevant working groups under the Courtauld 2030 Commitment. He is part of the WRAP team that will launch a set of agreed principles for scope 3 GHG accounting for UK food businesses in 2022. Prior to taking up this role at WRAP, he spent 10 years in academic research roles with Newcastle University, Trinity College Dublin and University of Edinburgh developing Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) models to quantify the environmental impacts of food production. He has significant expertise in modelling GHGs and mitigation pathways in livestock production systems. He also led the initial development and launch of the SHARE IT Sustainability Impact Assessment Tool for food sharing charities. He has been awarded the British Society of Animal Science Industry Prize and is a fellow of the Robert Bosch Transformational Leadership Academy for future European leaders in sustainability. He has co-authored 16 peer reviewed articles and 2 book chapters on modelling pathways to more sustainable food systems.

Caitlin Sweeney, Public Affairs Manager, Nestlé UK & Ireland

Caitlin joined Nestlé in 2019 and leads on public affairs activity across sustainability topics. She previously worked in Westminster for a Labour Member of Parliament and is studying for a MSc in Sustainability at Cranfield University.

Joanna Gardner, Team Leader, Public Sector Food and Catering Policy, Defra

Joanna joined the Public Sector Food and Catering Policy team in July 2022. She joined Defra in 2018 and has worked in a number of roles in the Agri-Food Chain Directorate, including on the recently published Government Food Strategy.

Christophe Lavialle, Sales & Business Development Director, ADAS

RSK ADAS Food & Drink Sector Sales Director since March 2021, CL’s knowledge and experience of the food industry spans 30 years from farm to fork in North America and Europe. Having started within livestock and crop farm management, he then held various commercial roles in the FMCG sector, including Bakery, Fresh and Frozen Produce, Dairy, Petcare and more recently supplying insight on shoppers and retailers. CL's expertise, along with that of the RSK ADAS team, lies in supporting the food industry transition to sustainable and regenerative practices to secure our food and enhance the environment.
